This was my first visit to The Vortex for an afternoon gig and what a special one it was. There was an early-afternoon workshop that attracted a good company of singers anxious to get some tutoring in the arts of improvising with the voice. At 3, the Improvisers’ Choir took the stage and enchanted and amused the packed club. Thanks to Jenni Roditi for her inspirational coaching, conducting and singing and to Fanny Martin for organzing and inviting me along to photograph it. A wonderful example of the marvellous music that can be made from nothing more than a good breath in the lungs, a creative mind and the thin air.
