Wales is always a favourite destination, but I had never visited the Gower peninsula before. The Gower is an area of outstanding natural beauty and having spent 4 nights there (19th – 22nd September 2015), it’s easy to see why. A Peugeot motorhome provided a very comfortable but mobile home.
My first rest-stop was the Hillend Campsite, just outside Llangenith, in which resided the Kings Arms, a very decent pub serving the lovely Gower Gold. Fringing the campsite is a beautiful range of dunes which fronts onto Rhossili beach, a gorgeous strand popular with surfers and the odd dog walker (images 1 - 48). The promontory of Worms Head lay just to the south; at low tide, one could cross the natural causeway to get to the headland.
My second rest-stop was at East Slade on the Oxwich peninsula, which has a charming 5-mile circular walk (images 49-52).
